Case Study 1
“My husband was in his early 40s working for a well-known company in London.
When the vaccines were announced my family and I were so grateful. It was our way of slowly entering the outside world again. My husband had the Covid-19 vaccine and nine days later he nearly died.
He first had a mini-stroke at home and was taken to hospital. He then had a huge stroke the following morning. He was in a very bad way and had to have surgery. After his surgery, his condition worsened, and the doctors identified a haematoma in his leg which turned out to be a blocked artery. It was then that he was diagnosed with Vaccine-induced thrombocytopenia and thrombosis (VITT).
My husband had a huge stroke on the left side of his brain which affected his speech and communication. The only words he could say were ‘yes/no’ in the wrong context. It was heart-breaking to watch my husband be trapped in his body and not be able to communicate even though he knew exactly what he wanted to say. It was identified that he had a 100% blocked carotid artery, and a stroke in the optic nerve due to a clot in his eye, which caused complete blindness to his eye. He had paralysis on the side of his body and could not sit up, nor move his leg/arm/fingers. He could not do anything independently. It was horrific and we were in total shock.
He was in intensive care for several weeks and he was in hospital/rehab for months. He was unable to see his children. He now has to see many consultants/specialists, including in stroke, vascular, cardiology, ophthalmology, haematology, neurology and psychology departments. He has weekly appointments and I am now his full-time carer. He is unable to walk more than ten metres due to his leg having no pulse below the knee and the clot in the main artery stopping important blood flow to his foot. He has depression and regularly has thoughts about not wanting to be alive anymore. He has been diagnosed with heart failure and we are in the process of having him assessed for dementia despite being only in his early 40s.
The Vaccine Damage Payment Scheme payment is shocking and would not even cover our bills.”
